Coxs Creek is also known for being the birthplace of Kentucky’s second Baptist Association, and it is situated near Coxs Creek, a tributary of the Salt River.
The small community of Coxs Creek doesn’t have any major attractions, but there are a few notable businesses and community destinations. Most notably, there are several churches found here, including Cox’s Creek Baptist Church and St. Gregory Catholic Church. Neighboring cities and towns hold a few more attractions and destinations, including the Jim Beam American Stillhouse in Clermont and the Jailer’s Inn Bed and Breakfast and My Old Kentucky Home State Park in Bardstown.
The climate of the Coxs Creek region is part of a humid subtropical zone. Summers tend to be hot and humid, and while average highs in July and August might reach the 80s, there are many days in which thermostat readings will reach the 90s or even 100 degrees. Severe thunderstorms are common in the area, and some bring about the occasional tornado. Residents will need to thoroughly consider their home cooling needs to ensure they are comfortable regardless of the conditions that are occurring outdoors during the hazy summer months.
Winters in Coxs Creek are cool with daytime highs reaching the 40s. However, overnight lows can drop into the mid-20s, which is well below the freezing point. While snowfall is light and typically doesn’t exceed a foot, ice and sleet are common and can make conditions dangerous.
