About Howardstown, KY - Happy to be your hometown Heating & Air Conditioning Contractor!
Howardstown, Kentucky is a Nelson County unincorporated community situated on the Rolling Fork River. It is situated in the southern portion of the county near New Haven and New Hope, and it is also conveniently located about 21 miles from Elizabethtown and 57 miles southeast of Louisville. The Howardstown post office was established in 1893, and the community was named after William Howard, the first settler to the area who came to the region around 1811.
As a very small community, Howardstown isn’t home to many attractions. There are a few businesses found within the town, including Howardstown Liquor, and the Kentucky Railway Museum is found in New Haven located just next door. Howardstown’s close location to Elizabethtown also provides for other recreational opportunities, especially for outdoor enthusiasts – the Elizabethtown Nature Park and Freeman Lake Park are both located here. Other popular destinations in Elizabethtown include the Hardin County History Museum and Swope's Cars of Yesteryear Museum.
If you are a resident of or are planning to relocate to the Nelson County area, you’ll want to know what you can expect in terms of climate so that you can plan ahead. Winters are cool to cold, and while snowfall isn’t especially prominent, it is common to experience storms with sleet and ice. When freezing temperatures are added in to the equation, conditions can quickly become dangerous, so it is imperative that residents have a furnace or heat pump in place at home.
Summer weather in Nelson County can also be dangerous, as temperature are hot and can easily exceed 90 degrees. Severe storms usually begin in the spring and move into the summer, sometimes producing tornadoes. HVAC repair technicians will recommend that residents have their air conditioners serviced during the cooler spring months to ensure that they are working properly when needed.
